Company History

1911

The foundations of today's Zlatá Loď company date back to 1911 when the grandfather of the founders of the company opened a stationery and bookbinding shop in Libeň, Prague. It prospered until the early 1950s when it was nationalized. However, the stationery store (initially under the name NARPA) remained in the same location for another forty years.

1989

After the 1989 revolution, the family regained the shop along with the house in restitution and began looking for opportunities for further expansion.

Renting sales space in the newly renovated Dům U Zlaté lodi (The Golden Ship House) on Náprstkova Street in the Old Town proved to be a good solution. There, the owners opened a specialized art supplies store in 1996 and named it Zlatá Loď (The Golden Ship) after the location.

After five years of operation, the space, even after expansion, was no longer sufficient for the growing capacity, and it was necessary to find a new location. The floods in the summer of 2002 accelerated this decision, and in early December 2002, the store moved to the newly vacated premises in the Platýz courtyard, a traditional place for selling art supplies in Prague.

In 2023, we joined forces with the company Artikon. We proudly preserve our tradition and hope to continue offering art supplies to the next generation of artists.
